For every family returning home to survey the damage after living days of Harvey's terror, the view of their living room was about the same: a brown line, visible from the street that left the signature of where the flood had finally topped out. The lines of ruin left hundreds, if not thousands of the small, one-storey homes in northeast Houston where three bayous wind through the streets carrying water out towards the bay in near irreparable condition, and worst of all but like so many other Houstonians, homeowners realized that they don't have flood insurance.
